LOT 36 - 1926 Standing Liberty Quarter
Description

Silver 1926 Standing Liberty Quarter designed by Hermon A. MacNeil. The obverse features Liberty standing in a gateway between two pillars, holding a shield in her left hand and an olive branch in her right, with the word "LIBERTY" displayed across the top and stars flanking both sides. The reverse showcases a majestic flying eagle with wings spread, surrounded by "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR" text.

This coin belongs to the Type 2 design (1925-1930) with the recessed date and modified shield. The Standing Liberty Quarter series was minted from 1916 to 1930 and represents one of the most artistically acclaimed designs in American coinage, embodying the classical revival style popular in the early 20th century.

The 1926 date, with no mint mark visible, indicates Philadelphia Mint production. This well-circulated example displays authentic wear patterns consistent with coins that actually circulated in commerce during the Roaring Twenties and Great Depression era.

Condition Notes: Shows moderate to heavy circulation wear with honest patina. Liberty's face and upper torso details remain visible. Head and shield details somewhat flattened. Eagle's wing feathers partially worn but still defined. No major damage, cleaning, or alterations detected. Natural silver-gray toning throughout. Reeded edge intact. Refer to the pictures and in person inspection for condition.
