LOT 118 - Vintage Savings Folders Collection with Silver Coins
Description

Colorado Central Credit Union

Collection of two vintage coin savings folders containing approximately 30 Mercury and Roosevelt Dimes and 20 Washington Silver Quarters. The cream-colored folders feature "SAVE TODAY FOR SECURITY TOMORROW" printed above openings for coins with marked denomination values ranging from 25¢ to $5.00.

The folders, manufactured by Banthrico International, Inc. of Chicago, were designed as systematic savings devices with progressive denomination values and motivational messages. The first folder includes slots from 30¢ to $1.50 with cartoon illustration declaring "YOU'RE DOING GREAT...you have reached the half-way point. NOW FILL'ER UP!" The second folder continues with slots from $1.70 to $3.00 with illustration proclaiming "CONGRATULATIONS! You now have $3.00. Let us put your money to work for you!"

The collection includes approximately 30 silver dimes (Mercury and Roosevelt designs, 90% silver) and 20 Washington Silver Quarters (90% silver) minted between 1916-1964. The Mercury Dimes (1916-1945) feature Liberty wearing a winged cap, often mistaken for the Roman god Mercury. Roosevelt Dimes (1946-1964) and Washington Quarters (1932-1964) were the last U.S. circulation coins to contain 90% silver content.

Condition notes: Folders show expected age-related wear including light soiling, minor creasing at corners, and slight paper discoloration. Coins exhibit typical circulation wear with varying degrees of patina and toning. Several coins display attractive natural silver luster. No significant damage to either the folders or coins beyond normal handling. Refer to the pictures and in-person inspection for condition.
