Gilt bronze military medal featuring the Maltese cross design with royal monogram. This 19th-century Prussian decoration displays a blue enamel central band inscribed "GOTT MIT UNS" on one side and "Den 18 October 1861" on the reverse. The obverse center medallion features a detailed royal crown, while the reverse displays an ornate royal monogram.
The medal exhibits fine craftsmanship with detailed struck elements including crossed swords between the arms of the cross. The gilt finish retains good luster with minor wear to high points. A sturdy suspension ring allows for wearing with a ribbon (not present).
The medal is presented in its original rectangular black leatherette presentation case with burgundy velvet interior and cream silk lid lining. A protective indentation holds the medal securely in place.
Condition Notes: Medal displays light wear to gilt finish consistent with age, primarily on high points and edges. No damage to enamel components. Original case shows moderate exterior wear with minor scuffing and small areas of loss to leatherette covering. Interior velvet exhibits light compression and minor soiling. Case hinge intact. Metal composition likely gilt bronze or brass as indicated by negative magnet test. Refer to the pictures and in person inspection for condition.
