LOT 374 - Large Graphic Art Panel with Pop Culture References
Description

Original "Rossco" Folk Art Concert Scene with Muppets and Beavis & Butthead.

Mixed media on wood panel featuring bold cartoon-style graphics. This unique contemporary folk art piece is signed "Rossco" with a distinctive sunrise logo, created by a Billings, Montana artist. The artwork depicts a concert scene with vibrant, cartoon-inspired characters including a wild-haired puppet drummer (reminiscent of Animal from The Muppets) and elongated musician figures performing on stage while an audience of simplified figures watches from below. The right side features two distinctive teenage characters modeled after the animated series "Beavis and Butthead."

Of particular historical interest, this artwork was previously displayed as part of the now-retired "Billings North Pole" Christmas display, a long-standing holiday tradition for local families. The piece combines elements of outsider art, pop culture references, and local folk tradition with vivid colors and a distinctive illustrative style. Construction consists of a framed panel with painted sections creating a cohesive scene with strong compositional elements and bold outlines separating the various characters.
