Pair of German salt-glazed stoneware beer steins with pewter lids, circa mid-20th century. Both feature relief-molded tavern scenes with period dress figures and traditional drinking motifs.

First stein displays tan and cobalt blue salt glaze with high-relief tavern scene depicting multiple figures in period costume surrounded by decorative floral and vine elements. Cobalt blue banding at rim and base with rope-twist borders. Pewter hinged lid features conical finial with acanthus leaf thumblift. Lid stamped "DBGM" indicating Deutsches Bundesgebrauchsmuster (German Federal Registered Design). Base marked with triangular maker's mark reading "GIRMSCHEID W. Germany" with capacity markings.

Second stein features gray salt-glazed stoneware body with cobalt blue relief scenes showing figures in architectural setting with brick pattern background. German text inscription reads "ein Spruch ist zwei und ein Lied" (a saying is two and a song) with additional text "Binger ist's ein...und andrer" visible. Pewter hinged lid with pointed finial and ornate thumblift. Lid stamped "DRGM" (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster - German Reich Registered Design). Base marked "Made in West Germany" with fractional size marking.

Both steins utilize traditional salt-glazing technique creating characteristic orange peel texture. Applied handles with ribbed detailing. Pewter lids feature hinge mechanisms with functional thumblifts.

CONDITION:

Both steins display typical wear consistent with age and use. Pewter lids show surface oxidation and patina. Minor tarnishing present on pewter components.
