Solid wood acoustic guitar manufactured by Taylor Guitars in El Cajon, California. This Builder's Edition 517e features a Grand Pacific body shape, designed by Chief Guitar Designer Andy Powers. The guitar exhibits solid construction with a torrefied spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and mahogany neck with ebony fretboard and bridge. The torrefaction process heat-treats the top wood to accelerate aging, enhancing tonal maturity and creating a played-in sound character. Hardware includes chrome enclosed tuning machines and an integrated pickup system with side-mounted controls.
The Builder's Edition represents Taylor's premium tier, incorporating refined voicing, ergonomic armrest and beveled cutaway for enhanced player comfort, and upgraded appointments throughout. Grand Pacific body shape was introduced to provide a warmer, bass-focused tone compared to Taylor's traditional dreadnought designs. Serial number 1205074043 dates this instrument to Taylor's production records.
Includes original hardshell case with burgundy plush interior, three brass-plated latches, and embossed decorative exterior pattern. Also includes original documentation: Owner Essentials booklet, D'Addario string guide, TaylorWare accessories catalog, welcome card, and Builder's Edition hang tag numbered 517.
