Montana Fall Sporting Auction
Featured Seller – Laurence “Lars” Wood
Laurence “Lars” Wood wasn’t just a collector—he was a revolver man through and through. Known across Montana for his lightning-fast draw and uncanny precision, Lars turned heads at every range he visited. He could empty the cylinder of a big-bore snub-nose revolver so fast the shots blurred into one continuous roar—yet when the target was reeled back, all five holes would be clustered tight, the size of a thumbprint.
It was this rare combination of speed and accuracy that made Lars both a local legend and a serious competitor. In the late 1980s he even qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in pistol shooting, but it was his obsession with revolvers that truly defined him. He tuned his guns like a scientist, building custom grips, adjusting timing, and pushing himself to the limit. At one point, he even set out to challenge a Guinness World Record for revolver speed shooting, determined to prove that a .44 Magnum could be run just as fast—and just as accurately—as anything else.
The collection offered here reflects that same passion. Every revolver, every firearm tells a piece of the story of a man who lived to test the limits of what was possible with a six-gun.
