This past year at the Big Sky Outdoor Expo here in Billings, we spent three days getting to know Kannas Kannemeyer and Juan from Signature Hunting Adventures. By the time we sat down to dinner together, we came away feeling like we genuinely knew them - their operation, their hunting philosophy, and most importantly, their character. THE HUNT:

This is a 5-day plains game safari on Signature Adventures' main concession in Limpopo Province, South Africa - a beautiful 22,000-acre property located approximately 3.5 hours from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. This hunt accommodates a minimum of 2 hunters and a maximum of 4 hunters. Whether you bring 2, 3, or 4 hunters, there are no additional charges for any of the included services listed below.

HOW TROPHY FEE CREDITS WORK - READ CAREFULLY:

Each hunter receives $1,000 in trophy fee credits to apply toward the animals you harvest on your African safari.

To qualify as a hunter, you'll harvest a minimum of 3 animals during your hunt. This means you'll have trophy fees beyond your $1,000 credit - but here's what makes this package valuable: You're getting 5 full days of accommodations, meals, professional guide service, and complete field trophy preparation included. The additional trophy fees you pay are simply for the animals you choose to pursue - and you control exactly what you spend beyond your credit.

You can plan on hunting any plains game of your choice - prices on different species vary. For example, an impala might cost $785 while a kudu could be $4,650. Your $1,000 credit applies to whatever you choose to pursue.

Credits roll over - if you take an impala at $785, you still have $215 remaining toward your next animal. Any additional animals taken beyond your $1,000 credit will be paid directly to the outfitter at current trophy fee rates.

Credits can be used toward ANY game species available at Signature Adventures. Credit restrictions: Cannot be applied to steenbok, duiker, small cats (caracal, serval, civet, genet), or warthog.

Bottom line: Yes, you'll have trophy fees beyond your credit. But the hunt infrastructure - accommodations, guides, trophy prep - is covered. You decide what you want to pursue and what you want to spend. And hopefully this becomes the first of many trips to South Africa with Kannas and Signature Adventures.

This is a special one. Cold-molded okoume mahogany plywood sea kayak, the Hawk SS model, custom built by designer Mark A. Rogers of Superior Kayaks, Inc. (Whitelaw, Wisconsin). This isn't a kit build — it's a professional build directly from the designer himself, hand-signed and dated "June 2000" inside the cockpit. The "Designed By: Mark A. Rogers / Superior Kayaks, Inc." label appears on both sides of the hull.

The Hawk SS is a high-performance Greenland-inspired touring kayak with a long, narrow waterline beam designed for speed and seaworthiness. The hard chine hull design delivers excellent secondary stability and responsive handling. At 19 feet 6 inches, this is one of the longer designs in the Superior Kayaks Hawk series, built for intermediate to advanced paddlers in the 160–220 lb range with a maximum capacity of 300 lbs.

Construction is 4mm okoume mahogany plywood, sealed with epoxy resin and encapsulated in fiberglass cloth. The hull and deck are finished in a high-gloss marine varnish that showcases the natural wood grain patterns throughout. Three dark accent strips are inlaid on the foredeck forward of the cockpit. The cockpit features a padded seat and foot braces. Grab loops are present at bow and stern. The hard chine hull operates without a rudder, relying on hull design for tracking and maneuverability.

No paddle, spray skirt, or accessories are included unless otherwise noted.

Condition: Excellent overall condition. The marine varnish finish shows a rich, consistent luster with only minor surface scratches and scuffs consistent with age and careful use. The wood grain and seam joints appear solid throughout with no visible delamination, cracks, or structural damage. The cockpit interior is clean and the designer's signature remains legible. Kayak has not been water-tested by the auction house. Refer to the pictures and in-person inspection for condition.

Collection of seven official NRA leatherette-bound volumes of The American Rifleman magazine, the official journal of the National Rifle Association of America. Volumes span 1949/50, 1959, 1960, 1962, 1965, 1966, and 1968, covering nearly two decades of firearms history, technical articles, and period advertising.

Each volume is housed in the distinctive burgundy/oxblood leatherette binder featuring embossed gold-tone "The American Rifleman" title plate with NRA eagle emblem on the front cover. Spines feature an embossed frontiersman figure holding a rifle and a date label at the bottom. The NRA circular monogram is embossed on the front covers. Each binder holds approximately one year of monthly issues secured with a ring-style binding mechanism.

Interior pages include full-color and black-and-white period advertisements from major manufacturers including Winchester-Western, Western Super-X, and others representative of the postwar American firearms and sporting goods industry. Articles cover firearms reviews, shooting sports, hunting, reloading, and NRA organizational news from the late 1940s through the 1960s.

The 1949/50 volume is the earliest in the collection and represents the immediate post-WWII era of American firearms development. The collection spans a significant period in American firearms history including the Korean War era, the golden age of American sporting rifles, and the introduction of many iconic firearms platforms.

Binder covers show age-appropriate wear including minor surface scuffing and light creasing to the leatherette material. Pages appear intact with typical age toning. Binding mechanisms appear functional. Completeness of individual monthly issues within each binder has not been verified. Refer to the pictures and in person inspection for condition.

Kevlar composite construction sea kayak by Wilderness Systems, manufactured under license from Superior Kayaks, Inc. of Whitelaw, Wisconsin. This is the Sparrow Hawk model, designed by Mark A. Rogers, a Greenland-inspired hard chine touring kayak prized for its lightweight performance and nimble handling. Weighing in at a confirmed 30 lbs 11 oz, this is an exceptionally light 16-foot touring kayak ideal for paddlers seeking performance without the weight. Dated February 1995 per the interior license plate (License #583), making this a vintage example from the model's early production years.

The hull and deck are constructed of woven Kevlar composite finished in a warm golden tone with a contrasting green gel coat along the keel line and cockpit coaming. The deck features distinctive custom wood veneer inlay artwork depicting stylized tree motifs fore and aft of the cockpit, sealed beneath a clear resin finish. The "Sparrow Hawk" and "Wilderness Systems" script graphics are applied to the hull sides. A Rutabaga Paddlesports dealer decal (Madison, WI) is present on the stern deck, indicating the original point of sale through one of the Midwest's premier paddle shops.

The cockpit is fitted with a padded seat and foot pegs. Elastic bungee deck rigging is present fore and aft for securing gear. The hard chine double hull design operates without a rudder, relying on the hull shape for tracking and maneuverability. No paddle, spray skirt, or accessories are included unless otherwise noted.

Condition: Excellent overall condition with minimal signs of use. The Kevlar hull and deck show only minor surface scratches consistent with age and light use. The wood inlay artwork and clear coat finish remain intact and well-preserved. The bungee rigging and deck hardware appear functional. No visible cracks, repairs, delamination, or structural damage noted from photos. Kayak has not been water-tested by the auction house. Refer to the pictures and in-person inspection for condition.

Antique WWI-era U.S. military Model 1917 bolo knife manufactured by Fayette R. Plumb Inc. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, circa 1918. This bolo-style field knife was a simplified version of the earlier Model 1910 produced by Springfield Armory, and was issued primarily to machine gun teams for clearing brush and preparing fighting positions during the First World War.

Carbon steel blade with bolo-style profile, stamped "U.S. MOD. 917" (partially worn) on one side of the ricasso and "PLUMB PHILA" on the reverse. The blade shows evidence of field sharpening and use, with scratching and wear consistent with over 100 years of age. Full-tang construction with walnut grip scales secured by two slotted bolts. The grip retains good ribbed texture with age-appropriate darkening and minor wear. Steel crossguard with lanyard hole present. Cast steel pommel cap intact.

Includes the original canvas-covered scabbard with leather tip and steel belt clip/hanger at the throat. The canvas shows staining and soiling consistent with age. The leather tip exhibits wear, darkening, and some deterioration. Belt clip is present and functional.

Blade shows surface scratching, light pitting, and loss of original finish from use and sharpening. Grip scales are solid with no cracks. Bolts are tight. Crossguard shows mild oxidation. Scabbard canvas is intact but soiled; leather tip shows age-related wear.

Nickel-plated single-action pinfire pocket revolver of confirmed Belgian manufacture, circa 1880s. Bearing the Liège proof house mark (LG★) on the cylinder, this compact folding-trigger revolver features factory scroll engraving throughout the frame, cylinder, barrel, and backstrap with floral motifs and geometric crosshatch patterns. The cylinder displays oval cartouche panels with decorative borders and visible pin slots confirming pinfire operation. An additional "M" marking is stamped on the cylinder face, and the number "20" is visible on the frame near the grip. Fitted with checkered black hard rubber grips secured by a single screw on each side. The folding trigger tucks flush against the frame when not in use — a hallmark of Victorian-era pocket revolvers designed for vest or coat carry. The spur hammer must be manually cocked for each shot, consistent with single-action operation. The knurled ejector rod is present and extends from the front of the frame beneath the 1.5-inch barrel.

Produced in Liège, Belgium — one of Europe's premier arms manufacturing centers — these small-frame pinfire revolvers were widely made during the late 19th century as affordable self-defense pocket pistols. The Liège proof mark confirms the revolver passed the Belgian proof house testing requirements of the period. Classified as an antique firearm manufactured prior to 1899.

Condition: The nickel plating shows moderate wear and thinning throughout, with areas of exposed base metal and light surface oxidation, particularly on the trigger, barrel, and lower frame. The engraving remains clearly visible across all surfaces. Grips are intact with no cracks or chips; checkering is sharp and well-preserved. Mechanical function has not been tested.
